Demand-based Putaway or Split Putaway
Business Requirement
Introducing a new concept in warehouse operations! Instead of simply storing materials in their final destination, we have developed a more efficient approach. With our innovative process, materials are received in bulk from the vendor and then strategically split into different storage types based on demand and priority. This ensures that each storage area is optimized for maximum efficiency.
In this system, an intermediate storage type is designated as the first stop for fulfilling material demands. By carefully considering capacity and quantity requirements, we guarantee that all orders are promptly fulfilled. And don’t worry about handling different types of weights or packaging – our system automatically creates the appropriate handling unit during placement using RF technology.
For the final storage area, we take into account factors such as weight, volume, and dimensions to create the optimal handling unit or product HU to be placed in the destination bin. This level of precision allows for streamlined operations and improved productivity.
By implementing these strategies at the WPT level, you can achieve even greater success in your warehouse management. Embrace this innovative approach to meet business requirements and unlock new levels of efficiency!
System setting:
Activating the basic setting at the storage type level for the put-away split option will greatly enhance efficiency and accuracy in warehouse operations. By implementing this feature, you can expect a smoother workflow and optimized storage utilization. Take advantage of this opportunity to streamline your processes and maximize productivity. With the activation of this setting, you’ll be one step closer to achieving operational excellence in your warehouse management system.
The capacity for each storage type will be determined at the storage type level in order to accurately identify the demand from each storage type. This allows for efficient management of inventory.
To achieve this, it is important to configure the search strategy sequence and update the product master at the storage type level. By doing so, individual demands and capacities can be accurately identified.
For example:
- Storage Type 0028 has a capacity of 50 pieces (Sequence -1)
- Storage Type 0029 has a capacity of 40 pieces (Sequence -2)
- Storage Type 0030 has a capacity of 40 pieces (Sequence -3)
When it comes to putting away tasks, the system will intelligently split them accordingly. It will create product work tasks for both intermediate and final storage types, ensuring smooth operations throughout the process. With this optimized approach, we can streamline operations and maximize efficiency in managing inventory.
