Picking Same material from different Fixed bin using sorting rule
Fixed bin is one of the stock removal strategies supported in Goods issue. As we know , rules do not pre-exist in the system rather we can create them by sorting the quants.
With the fixed bin strategy, the system uses the storage bins that were assigned to the product master to find stock. But as there can be more than one fixed bin in a storage type, it is interesting to combine this strategy with another stock removal rule.
Consider the following scenario:
Multiple fixed bins are assigned to the same product. If there is an open warehouse task for fixed bin 1, the system should create the next warehouse task for fixed bin 2 to avoid a situation where multiple workers are trying to pick from the same bin. To implement this functionality, we need to include the sort field PICK_ITM (Open Stock Removal Items per Storage Bin or PICK_QT (Open Quantity to Remove per Storage Bin) in your stock removal rule along with QUAN.
Configuration set up –
Stock removal rule FIXB will be determine in our case
For now, this stock removal rule has only one sorting parameter i.e., QUAN
Test case using above configuration.
Product is assigned to multiple fixed bins.
Delivery 1 created for a product.
Picking task created from the FIXBIN1.
Keeping the above task in open status. Second delivery is created for the same material.
We can see that pick task is created for the same bin FIXBIN1.
Both the picking task belonging to different deliveries are created for the same source bin FIXBIN1.
Now to meet the requirement of avoiding a situation where multiple workers are trying to pick from the same bin we change the stock removal rule. Now added one more sort field in the rule.
Created picking task for the first delivery.
We can see that bin proposed in FIXBIN1
Keeping the above task in open status , created a pick task for second delivery for the same product.
We can now see that task is created from FIXBIN2.
One task is from FIXBIN1 and another task is from FIXBIN2.
Conclusion
