Lots of students just out of college have queries on how to get into career in SAP consulting. Well, let me tell you, it’s not an easy path. It takes a lot of time and hard work. But if you stick with it, the rewards are worth it. I’ve got some tips I always share with newbies looking to get into consulting.

First and foremost, you need to stay focused. SAP isn’t simple – it requires both industry knowledge and technical skills. It might feel overwhelming at times, but staying focused is key to success.

Allow me to share some insights and tips that will help pave your way into the SAP consulting world.

  1. Gain Basic/Foundation knowledge on SAP S/4 HANA: Begin with free foundation courses available from SAP influencers, institutes, or YouTube to grasp basic understanding.
  2. Select SAP Modules per interest: After foundation course choose an SAP module based on your interest or educational background
    1. SAP MM, WM – Operation, Supply chain, Mechanical
    1. SAP FI – B.com, M.com
    1. SAP SD- Marketing.
    1. SAP ABAP, BTP – Code, logic lovers
  3. Acquire configuration/Technical Skills: Dive deep into technical and configuration skills by exploring blogs, videos, and training programs. The more you learn, the better equipped you’ll be for the job market.
  4. Get global Certified: Consider obtaining SAP certification to stand out from the crowd. Global certifications can enhance your credibility and increase your chances of landing a job.
  5. Explore Internships opportunities: Look for internship opportunities relevant to SAP. This will not only give you hands-on experience but also help you connect with experts in the field.
  6. Market Yourself: Showcase your knowledge and skills by posting technical blogs and joining SAP groups on platforms like LinkedIn and WhatsApp. Networking is key in the consulting world. Keep Active in posting and answering the questions on groups and build your presence. This also help in understanding and analyzing the business scenarios.
  7. Develop Soft skills (Important): In addition to technical skills, focus on developing soft skills like communication and presentation. These skills are crucial for interacting with clients and colleagues. In SAP worlds the knowledge is incomplete if we can’t demonstrate or present to others.
  8. Stay Updated with new SAP trends: Keep yourself updated with the latest trends in SAP by attending events, SAP Influencer to know what’s trending in market and then start working on those.
  9. Keep Following Companies HR’s: Stay connected with HR agencies and companies posting SAP-related jobs to seize emerging opportunities, this will also help to approach the companies directly for Job relevant to you.
